India News: Hit hard by rising fuel costs, the Railways has finally decided to pass on some of the burden to passengers, despite political sensitivities involved.
Train fares will go up by two per cent from October 7 for all major classes, except short distance second class and suburban travel. Fares will rise for AC, First Class, sleeper and chair car segments of mail and express trains. This increase is due to rise in fuel cost for the Railways.
